National and Regional Events
Region 8 has hosted the National Championship Regatta many years. We also race at our local clubs helping to build club racing and sailing around the six states that make up Region 8.
A Family Racing boat
Sailing and racing a Catalina 22 is very easy for a family to do. We have wives, daughters, husbands, sons, brothers and sisters sailing in our fleet. Two people can sail and race and do well. A husband and wife Team can setup one of our boats and put it in the water in 30 minutes. That same Team can win races and have a ton of fun
The Catalina 22 is a classic, one of the most popular one-design sailboats in the world. With nearly 16,000 boats manufactured in the past 50 years making them readily available and relatively inexpensive to own and sail. The Catalina 22 is easy to trailer and set up. The mast can be raised by a couple very easily and the boat in the water in 30 minutes or so.
